A legal battle over a series of reports published by The Mail on Sunday over the birth of Meghan Markle’s first child has been settled and both sides have made an undisclosed donation to charity.

A spokeswoman for Ms. Markle told the Daily Mail that the actress’s lawyers had reached an agreement with the newspaper “regarding the reporting of certain articles that were false and in breach of Ms. Markle’s and her mother’s privacy.”

The publication revealed details of the settlement in an article in The Mail on Sunday:

The Mail on Sunday has also paid Meghan Markle’s legal team more than £90,000 (around $131,000) in the last week to settle the case, understood to be the first time the pubcaster has been asked to pay public relations fees for a story it has run. Two years ago, the storied weekly paid out more than £100,000 ($140,000) to celebrity chef Nigella Lawson after her accountants claimed it had libelled her in a story.
