Man dragged ex-girlfriend into subway tracks after she dumped him, police say

A father in Brooklyn was charged Friday with attempted murder for allegedly dragging a man into the subway tracks after the victim’s girlfriend left the couple.

The incident occurred around 7:45 p.m. Thursday at Lorimer Street and Ninth Avenue.

According to a source with the New York City Transit Police, Theodore Isayta, 36, of Brighton Beach, started arguing with his ex-girlfriend after leaving a nearby Dunkin’ Donuts. The woman told police that she walked away from him when he started flailing and threatening her with a knife.

When Isayta followed the woman into the subway station, the woman got into a cab. As she was getting into the cab, Isayta allegedly attacked her and pulled her on the subway tracks.

Isayta reportedly started to drag the woman into the train tracks before he stopped. When police arrived, Isayta was already on the tracks. He was unresponsive, but the woman was not seriously injured.

Upon arriving at the scene, Isayta told police he was high on PCP and was hallucinating.

Isayta was taken to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, where he was treated and released. He was then taken to the 59th Precinct Stationhouse, where he was arraigned Friday.

He is charged with attempted murder, assault, harassment and criminal possession of a weapon. Isayta was held without bail and is due back in court Monday.
